First we designed a new logo for HUNKS The Show then incorporated the new Hunks Logo design as a focal point for the New Website Header design featuring the Las Vegas Back Drop. We then designed the rest of the Hunks Website Template from Scratch with a custom website design template created in Adobe Photoshop which we later hand coded into Adobe Go Live and Adobe Dream Weaver to achieve the final website template and web page design.

As part of the website design we also had to spruce up individual pictures of each of the Men of Hunks The Show and since we are the official designer for all their marketing materials we were able to incorporate many of Hunks The Show's high quality flyer designs directly into the website for a very unified overall design.

Peak to Peak Charter School Home Coming Dance Pictures 2009

DJ Emir Santana 303-995-0875 Denver Colorado's Best Event DJ

I know, I know SMH it took me this long to put these home coming dance pictures up on the website. What can I say as a Touring DJ it has been a super busy year for me. With things winding down after the New Year I've had a little bit of time to go back through my picture collections and start adding pictures to the picture gallery section of www.djemir.com

Peak To Peak High School Home Coming Dance Party w DJ Emir

While the majority of my DJ Gigs are from nightclubs and summer pool parties, as a matter of fact my friend Dangerous Dan once tweeted "DJ Emir does more Pool Parties than any other DJ I know" LOL, I do a fair share of Jr. High School, High School and College parties and dances as well. I tend to have tons of fun deejaying for many of these school and pol party style events as they tend to be more diverse allowing me to play more styles of music than I normally get to play at some of the nightclubs. It shows too in my deejaying and after these events I tend to loosen up a little at the clubs and have some fun throwing some crazier songs people normally don't expect.

DJ Emir Santana World Class Nightclub and Event DJ  - New York - Denver Colorado - Puerto Rico

The crazy part of School Dances is that most DJs tend to think that the kids won't know anything about "Old School" songs like Michael Jackson Thriller, Beat it and even some Kool and The Gang "Celebrate God Times" And ten there are the exact opposite that overkill oldschool DJs that try and turn High School dances into the corniest dances ever with songs like the chicken dance and a ton of songs that work for older crowds but not for the kids. Being the quick mixer that I am, also having traveled and having deejayed countless weddings and corporate events I have a pretty good understanding for what really makes people move. Watching the kids react to Celebrate good times by throwing their hands in the air and yelling "YEAHOO" during the chorus makes me wonder if they heard it from their parents or from their teachers.

When I first started deejaying for School parties back in the late 1990's I was throwing in old school funk songs like Cameo Word Up and Michael Jackson and Prince tracks mainly for the teachers, cause sometimes you gotta give them something from their era so they can forget for a moment that they are adults and just have some fun. I quickly realized however after a few events that the kids for whatever reason not only know these songs but love these songs too. So I began to throw a little dash in every now and then. That is to say it is the seasoning added to the dish and not the main dish itself. The bulk of the music I play for the kids is a mix of Top 40, Hip Hop and Electro House remixes of popular songs with a real focus on high tempo songs and mostly remixes of alternative songs so as not to lull down the mood when adding in variety and spice into the mix. With my quick mix style it's easy to have kids loving songs since they only hear the first chorus, One verse and one more chorus of the older songs before coming right back to today's hottest music making certain that the kids are never bored with any one song. Without nightclub experience, most DJs don't have what it takes to pull that off, nor are they up on the latest greatest new hits the kids want to hear. And the DJs that only do nightclubs don't have the versatility to make the best of a School dance, wedding or corporate event.

The Peak to Peak Charter High School Home Coming Dance was bananas. many of the girls gave up trying to dance in their shoes (as pictured above) and went barefoot cause they were dancing way more than they probably expected to. Especially considering the DJ horror story that was relayed to me by one of the teachers of one of their previous Deejays. I was told the previous guy was into SKA music and basically played mostly SKA and Rock music all night. I was shocked and said I didn't even know anyone who still listened to SKA music in that capacity, considering it peaked it's popularity during my own High School days and even then it was mainly an underground music scene. Needless to say the kids were not very happy with that guy.

With me on the other hand the kids could not stop dancing, and they all came up to express their gratitude after the dance. I of course gave them love back in the form of mixtape CDs for being such a great crowd.

And those kids really were a great crowd, they danced straight through all the top 40 all the electro house, the old school, the hip hop and to my chagrin even the Dance Hall Reggae, the remixes and the Salsa and Meringue I sprinkled in here and there.

Peak to Peak High School Home-Coming Dance

Prom Season is almost upon us again and soon High Schools all over Colorado will be picking out their DJs for their Proms and other dances. Hopefully they all have learned by now that there are better alternatives to the "Normal DJs" they occasionally hire for Prom. I personally know plenty of great DJs with awesome sound systems that dwarf what most mobile Djs normally bring with them and that also have nightclub experience and real mixing skills to turn a n otherwise NORMAL PROM into a SUPER PROM PARTY! That said, if you are going to pay a premium price for a Prom DJ, you might as well GET a PREMIUM DJ that always delivers!

Teddys Nightclub Fridays

Friday's are off the chain at Teddy's Nightclub w DJ Emir Santana and Kathie J of The KS1075 Morning show. This last Friday had over 700 people partying all night with your baby momma's favorite DJ, DJ Emir.

Make sure you swing through Every Friday at Teddy's Nightclub 4849 Bannock St. inside the Holiday Inn Denver CO. Teddy's is the Friday night headquarters for Denver's Largest Ladies in Free Ladies Night with Denver DJ Extraordinaire DJ Emir on The Turntables and The KS1075 Live remote crew in the building.

Flyer for Teddy's Nightclub Fridays W DJ Emir & KS1075

When I first walked in to set up the turntables at 9pm there were already a good 200 people eating, drinking and hanging out. The juke box was pumping out a few old school funk songs and a few classic rock songs so I decided to keep that Vibe going for a bit when I started playing and made sure to also mix it up with a few more current songs to liven it up a little and not alienate the younger crowd that was starting to pour in.

Then it quickly went to an ultra hot party as tons of sexy ladies started pouring in. By 11pm the place was packed out and the dance floor was already on fire. It was the Manager Chris' Birthday and he had a great time partying with his friends and patrons. He had me shout out a few special birthday party Patron and Jaeger shot specials throughout the night.

There were quite a few requests but I could barely read some of the people's handwriting. As I found out later when I was able to read the list in better lighting it turns out I naturally played most of the requests on my own.

It was easy to tell that everyone was having a  great time as most of them had their hands up for a majority of the night and everyone had a huge smile on their faces. A bunch of familiar faces I hadn't seen in a while showed up to party, probably cause they heard my name on the radio or saw the party listed on my website. Shouts out to Miko for coming through along with a ton of other mixtape fans that have been going to my parties for over a decade.

Kathie J and her girls were a blast to party with and they all seem to have been enjoying theme selves. The crowd responded really well when Kathie got on the mic and yelled are you having a good time as they all together yelled a strong resounding YEAH!

If you missed last Friday's Party make sure you swing through this weekend as it goes down again Every Friday at Teddy's Nightclub with DJ Emir laying down the juiciest cuts for your partying pleasure.

Iron Man Mixtape

Iron Man Mixtape

If you haven't already picked up a copy of the Iron Man Mixtape you have been missing out, Get your copy today at http://www.djemir.com/ this mixtape has been named "The Official hardest Mixtape In Los Angeles" and remains a favorite amongst many mixtape fans.

Iron Man Mixtape Cover Design

The Iron Man Mixtape is also one of my own personal favorite mixtapes. Partially cause the mixtape just goes hard from start to finish and partially cause my buddy Roger made me step up to a challenge to create another hard mixtape intro like the one I made on the Star Wars Mixtape.

One of my favorite nightclub promoters Roger Keeler AKA "Big Rog" aka "Hollywood Rog" once told me he was partial to my Star wars Mixtape because of the intro and the song choices. he said "I love all your mixtapes, they've all been really good with the music choices and the mixing, but I have to say to this day my favorite is still your Volume 6 the Star wars Mixtape. Just the way you started it off and some of the mixes on there are pure classic. Then he drove the point home with "To this day you still haven't topped off the intro you did on volume 6 your Star Wars Mixtape" (I Took those words to heart when I decided to try and top that intro off this time around)

(FYI: his new favorite mixtape is now the Michael Jackson Mixtape)

When Roger reminded me that he really liked the intro on that particular mixtape one more time and then added "you really should create another mixtape intro like that" I decided to try and top off that intro in the creation of my New Iron Man Mixtape. I looked through my Vinyl collection and found a few great lines from Ludacris and KRS One to get things going. The Mixtape Intro I came up with on the Iron Man Mixtape actually starts off with Tony Stark himself saying "Is it better to be feared or respected? I Say why can't you have both?" followed by Ludacris and KRS One mini word juggles to create a DJ Diss Intro worthy of possibly replacing Roger's favorite mixtape intro.

I had a big event coming up at the time I was creating the Iron man Mixtape in Arizona with Keak the Sneak (Right Hand Man to E40) Big Rosh, and a few others and I was adament I would finish this mixtape in time for the event so I knocked out the mixtape as quickly as possible. This was a daunting task considering I had to try and weave in parts of the Iron man Movie into the mixtape without taking away from the flow of the mixes all within a weeks time) They did it big for this show too, huge sound and light package bands, Hip Hop Groups and of Course DJ Emir. They also had a buffet with choice of Fillet Mignon or Salmon and they had the Snackets a group of Back up dancers for the party and for one of the bands. The snackets were dressed in Christmas outfits cause it was going to be sent to the troops around Christmas as the whole event was being filmed to be sent the Troops in the Middle East.

I finished the mixtape and had it mastered for duplication within the week. The Covers did not return from printing in time for the event in Arizona so I had to take a few Iron Man Mixtapes with me that had home printed mixtape covers. To make up for this I also brought along a bunch of Transformers Mixtapes with the professionally printed UV Coated mixtape covers.

It was during this trip that I heard the distinct difference between the Transformers Mixtape and the Iron Man Mixtape. I gave a copy of both mixtapes to the Limo Driver that picked me up at the airport he popped in the Transformers mixtape and after listening to the Iron Man mixtape over the course of the week the Transformers Mixtape sounded much slower paced. I Immediately realized just how much harder the Iron Man mixtape was and I became excited. It was almost like an out of body experience, cause I could not tell if I had possibly topped my previous mixtape until that very moment.

By the time the two day event had concluded I had handed out all the copies of the mixtape that I brought with me. I already was receiveing good feedback from several of the attendees, guests and performers and I myself finally had a chance to really listen to the final version of the mixtape on the plane ride over to Arizona. So after the limosine dropped me off at Tucson International Airport I flew back home to Denver extremely excited about this new mixtape. The New Mixtape Covers had arrived in Denver before I did so I picked them up on the way home from the Airport. One of the first things I did when I arrived back home was send a copy to a few blogs a few magazines.  I even sent a huge batch of mixtapes to one of my promoter buddies, Joloni of J's VIP list Los Angeles.

Just a few weeks later I got a phone call from Joloni telling me...

"Did you know you are pretty well known out here in Los Angeles? I gave your mixtape out to everyone a few of the DJs knew you by name and told me they really like your mixtapes. I told em yeah that's my boy we go way back and he said 'I love Emir's mixtapes I really was feeling his transformers mixtape' This is coming from DJ 5 Star, he's one of the cats out here that DJs all the time, so I gotta tell you you are doing something right if they are telling me these things"

then he laid it out by saying "I passed out all 100 mixtapes you sent me and everyone is really feeling your Iron man Mixtape, they all said it was hard! Congratulations, you now officially have the Hardest Mixtape In Los Angeles!"

As expected from a project that I myself got excited about, many people soon came on board. Several websites, blogs and magazines took a quick shine to the Iron Man Mixtape as well including the following mixtape review from Rap Mullet:
DJ Emir Iron Man Mixtape Review Article By http://www.rapmullet.com/
Iron Man Mixtape Review from Rapmullet.com
"Welcome DJ Emir to the Rapmullet review section. His catch phrase is "Real DJs Do Real Things" so I'm expecting some skill and some mixing. Check out his website: www.djemir.com when you get a chance. Def a quality home base for a quality DJ, cats need to take notes on the business side of things.

I haven't heard "Mama Said Knock You Out" in a minute but that "Get Buck" remix was cool as a fan. We used to come out to our basketball games to this song back in the day. Emir was transforming the fuck outta the remix too. That "Tambourine Soul" mix was the shit too. I can def see the club getting amped to this joint; Rakim never sounded fresher. I loved how he went from Wayne Wonders "No Letting Go" into the Bangles "Walk Like An Egyptian" with that Digable Planets vocal looped in the background and the "Touch It" beat rocking throughout. "Jockin Jay-Z" with Oasis' "Wonderwall" was def potent product and it went into the "50 Cent vs DJ Emir" perfectly as Emir spazzed on the cuts. I don't usually fuck with Rihanna but that mix of "Please Don't Stop The Music" was crazy as cat shit. Can't never go wrong fucking with a classic Mike Jackson either.

This project is 60 + tracks long, continuous mixing, tons of skill, some quality mash ups (hate that phrase) and overall just a high-energy party type joint. I give Emir credit cause he pulled off the three turntable vibe like a vet and he let the music do the talking so to speak. Meaning it has that vibe of Emir starting out with a few tracks in mind and he lets the music take over while he just mixes and at the end of it all you got 60 tracks. If you're into party joints this is def the mixtape series for you. Shout to Emir for keeping mixtape hope alive, it is appreciated man...thanks. "

Transformers Mixtape

DJ Emir Transformers Mixtape: A Mixtape Fan Favorite

One of my own personal favorite mixtapes has always ben the Transformers Mixtape. Partially because of the Transformers movie theme underlying the mixtape and partially because it was a landmark shift in my overall style of mixing. While I personally liked the Iron Man Mixtape even more due in part to the hardness of the intro and because I decided to try and out do the Transformers mixtape in terms of the creativity and aggresiveness, and all my other mixtapes for that matter, I must admit there's something about the Transformers mixtape that makes it, as one mixtape fan so eloquently put it "timeless."

This timeless quality can be attributed to many things. Mostly it's because the songs chosen for the CD were really great songs that have continued to stand the test of time. Some were already classics that had been remixed. Maybe it was the abundance of classics that were remixed for the project or maybe it was the perfect way the movie dialogues were integrated seamlessly into this one, flowing ever smoothly throughout the entire mixtape. Maybe it's the massive music edits and cuts so aggressively mixed that make this mixtape such a classic. Or perhaps it's the strong presence commanded by Optimus Prime's voice that makes the Transformers Mixtape stand out so much. Either way the Transformers mixtape will always hold a special place in my heart as one of my own personal favorites. Apparently this holds true for many of my fans as well. Time and time again I am told that The Transformers Mixtape is one of their own personal favorites. One of the mixtapes many return to time and time again. This undoubtedly is why it actually picked up a few awards with a few smaller magazines, publications and websites and why fan mail (email and standard postal mail) continues to roll in for the Transformers Mixtape and for a few of the mixtapes that followed like the Iron Man Mixtape and Michael Jackson Mixtape.

The following article is taken from the pages of VIP Nightclub Magazine
Chronicling the Mixtape of The Year Award they bestowed upon My Transformers Mixtape CD

DJ Emir Transformers Mixtape VIP nightclub Magazine 2008 Mixtape of The Year Award Article

"Our best of 2008 issue would not be complete without a "Best DJ" category and a "Best Mixtape" award category. For the past several years we here at VIP Nightclub magazine have listened to Thousands of mixtapes, gone to countless nightclubs and listened to thousands of DJs. We continue to find many great DJs out in the clubs, and on mixtapes. Some just blend in with all the others and some really stand out even amongst the other great DJs. As far as mixtapes go, there are thousands out there, many of them are horrible, there are some decent ones, some good ones, a few great ones and then there are the occasional gems, potential classics that are to be coveted and played in heavy rotation for years.

Often choosing a winner for awards like these can be difficult. Many candidates tend to be equally impressive and each DJ embodies unique qualities that elevate their performance from the other DJs. This year however we found One particular individual who both live in the club and on mixtape stood out above all the other DJs. That DJ was DJ Emir Santana and both his live mixing and his incredible mixtape The Transformers Mixtape stood out so much that both were quickly singled out as the absolute best of the best.

DJ Emir’s Transformers mixtape is so well put together and so extremely entertaining that one can listen to it over and over without ever tiring or needing to fast forward. With the insane mixing, scratches and remixes DJ Emir threw on this mixtape, the Transformers Mixtape has dominated the nightclub mixtape circuit. It decimated the inferior mixtapes that have flooded the market and over-saturated the mixtape markets with hosts of inferior products. In a world that has become much too complacent with mediocrity, DJ Emir has elevated our expectations and brought back hope to a dying breed of mixtapes. His Transformers Mixtape truly is a masterpiece of epic proportions. We have listened to it on a constant basis at home in the office and in our rides and yet it remains our all time favorite mixtape of the year. Thus we have crowned DJ Emir’s Transformers Mixtape with its most deserved title of VIP Night Club Magazine 2008 Mixtape of The Year. Available at www.DJEMIR.com" - VIP Nightclub Magazine Fall 2008
